Paula Creamer's Ultra Sweet Half Moon Victory

Paula Creamer walked away with her 4th title of the year today on the beautiful bluffs of Half Moon Bay.

The Samsung World Championship is often called the LPGA's fifth major, which makes this Paula's biggest LPGA Tour victory yet, and it was made ultra sweet by the a hometown crowd cheering for their pink princess. Ms. Creamer grew up a mere 50 miles from Half Moon Bay, in Pleasaton CA.

The field at The Samsung included the top twenty women golfers in the world, but The Ocean Course at Half Moon Bay Golf Links, at times stole the show, with its spectacular coastal landscape.

At one point during the final round Paula shared the lead with Song-Hee Kim...and up to the end a playoff was a possible... but Paula did what she had to do, and put that possibility to rest with a 5-foot par putt on the 18th hole.

The subtitle for this year's Samsung World Championship should be, The Pink Panther Prevails.

  1. Yes, nice to see Paula win, still waiting for Ms Gulbis to card one!

  2. Gulbis does have one - just one - she won the Evian Masters in '07.

That Halfmoon Bay course looked spectacular.

  3. Silly to call Samsung a major. Majors should be full-field events, to make the achievement of winning one as great as possible.

  4. why are you talking about natalie???? here are the facts, jack.

gulbis may have peaked in 2007.

she's had 3 good years 2007(12), 2006(16) and 2005(6) in the money rankings. this year, 2008(54), the worst showing of her career.

she is mostly about the marketing side. more likely to see her dominate a swinsuit calendar than an lpga event at this time.

she forgot how to put her game first a long time ago. butch can't help golfers who are not 100% focused - natalie seems to be more interested in her next photo shoot v. next tourney. while she is a hot golfer, she is not that hot as a crossover media babe. maybe she can do car dealer commercials when her lack luster lpga career catches up with her over inflated image. she is a mini bubble - she will burst and crash very soon. then it will be natalie who?

  5. Nice to see Creamer has eased off cursing out her caddy when she hit a bad shot.

I think all this pink stuff is a charade and nothing more then a marketing ploy.

She has a potty mouth that turns the air blue, not pink!

  6. Who is this Anon, his mother must have dropped him on his head when he was a baby. There is no one out there that works harder on her game than Natalie. And anyone worth their salt in professional golf sometimes looses their cool in a given situation. Three cheers to Paula for staying focused down the stretch.

  7. wow - Anon really got wound up this weekend ! Amazingly, he got some things right - her three best tour years have been '05, '06, and '07. '08 was not a good year for her - but dang - she's only 25 years old. Hardly washed up. I don't recall anyone ever saying that she was going to be a world beater.

She does know which side of the toast her bread is buttered. Yes - she makes a LOT more money doing the modelling and TV and advertising things than she does on the golf course - but she also knows that the golf course is her connection to the endorsement dollars - so she keeps working on her game.

Yes - there are players who work harder on their games than Gulbis - but very few of them have her endorsement and marketing demands.

Of COURSE the pink is a marketing device. Geez. It does happen to be her favorite color - but why don't you pick on Tiger's Sunday Red or Gary Player as "the black knight" ? It doesn't take away from her game.

Did I miss some bleeped out comments from Creamer ? I didn't hear any swear words. I saw the tantrum from Friday - that was pretty funny, and it was kind of funny watching her pout like that. Tiger still leads the pros in language fines.

Rodney - almost every week, someone...usually a player...pipes up with that same comment. "This feels like our 5th major." I have no idea why - it's silly. The Samsung isn't anything near a major and everybody knows it. The ADT is a bigger event than this.

  8. Congrats to Paula "in pink" for her win!

I really hate it when somebody jumps up and predicts the end of a golfers career....especially when you're talking about somebody in their 20's.......come on give me a break!

Everybody including anon's are going to have a bad stretch in their game. It's happen to all the top 25 on the PGA tour.

  9. I attended the Samsung on Saturday-day 3. Interesting to see behind the scenes of a LPGA event. In person, Paula is very friendly and good to her fans (and so was Katherine Hull and Suzann Pettersen). With the invasion of international players I think this was such a sweet win for Paula, and in front of her home town crowd. And yes, the Half Moon Bay course was amazing!

  12. Can someone please tell Creamer to wax or dye her eye brows?

Also, tell her not be a bitch to her caddie when she knows she is on TV.

I never seen Tiger being a jerk to Stevie despite his reputation. Paula, on the other hand, acting more like a Lindsy Lohan than a girl next door.

Petterson seems to have more humility.
