Sarah Palin Doesn't Play Golf or Have Affairs = Good VP

In the wake of Sarah Palin's nomination as John McCain's running mate, one Republican strategist seems to suggests that because the Alaska Governor neither plays golf, nor has extra marital affairs, she makes a better candidate than most men. The implication being that most men either play golf or have affairs, and both activities take up time that would be better spent on family and the VP job.

Anyway, that's what I got from this video. Check it out and see what you think. In the meantime I've got to say I kind of resent the fact that golf is being presented here as a negative; as: A) Something women hate, B) Something women don't do, C) Something that can't be combined with family/career. D) Something like having an extramarital affair.

Come on, that's not the golf I know.

  1. Call me naive... but what exactly does a VP do besides be a person to provide a 2nd opinion and stay in-the-know as preparation to take over in case something happens to the numero uno?

  2. The irony is that if she becomes VP she will have more time than ever to play golf OR have an affair.

What a stupid comment....They really shouldn't start drinking until the sun goes down....

  4. LOL @anonymous Too bad you signed in anon, that comment deserves some props! :)

I would say it's still undecided whether or not she has affairs or plays golf... It's never too late to start! (guess which I'm referring too...or both?) :)

As for D) Something like having an extramarital affair, my wife has referred to my "hobby" as my other girlfriend on more than one occasion and she's come to accept the fact that she has to share our bed with my clubs. It's like having an "open affair" that's acknowledged and accepted by all :)

  5. Watching that video and reading her bio, it seems like she just resents men. So she picked out a couple of stereotypical "men-things" and decided that she needed to use them to justify a woman who's in line for a position of power.

I'm not exactly sure why this is newsworthy, other than the fact that the media could peg a "Republican strategist" saying stupid things.

  6. I'm a third generation Republican but I don't abide some of these "strategists" who say stupid things to get publicity for themselves, then claim to be representing a candidate.

As for golf, I'd say it crosses both party lines and gender lines quite nicely in most cases.

  7. @double eagle,you say,
"I'm not exactly sure why this is newsworthy", Well for the moment anything that has to do with Sarah Palin is newsworthy".

  8. @anonymous Yes, except this has really nothing to do with Sarah Palin, other than containing her name. It's simply some unknown pollster giving some strange theory of why Palin would make a good VP. She might as well have thrown in attractiveness or what car she drives as justification too because it would be just as relevant.

  10. Lately there's been a lot that - associating golf with negative messages. Bush saying he gave up golf for the troops because it send "the wrong message in a time of war". Then Korean's President says elected officials shouldn't play golf because it sends the wrong message "in a time of bad economy" then we have this bimbo saying golf is anti family...like having an extramarital affair. I, for one, am sick of it.

  14. Sarah Palin couldn't play golf anyway while the boys were still in Iraq, Dubya had to give it up because of the war, she certainly can't start while the boys are still over there...
