Golfer's Elbow and/or Blogger's Elbow... Hurts !

It seems I have one or the other... and whichever it is, it's a real pain in the... elbow.

I've been unable to post for over 24 hours. You see yesterday morning I had a cortisone injection... which subsequently led to something they call Cortisone Flare and that = ouch X 10!

As it happens there's a lot of good golf happening right now too... with Tiger on the trail in Australia, Rickie Fowler on a roller coaster at Disney and Lorena Ochoa hosting the LPGA elite in Mexico.

I hope to be back in full writing/golf mode tomorrow... because I intend to do both this weekend. Injured elbow not withstanding.

  1. Patricia, get voice recognition software. You can be preparing dinner, practicing your putting on the carpet or doing your nails and simply dictate your daily column(s). I use MacSpeech Dictate for my iMac. The newest version is fabulous. Even for people with Bawlmer accents like mine...

  2. Bad news. Hope it feels better soon. I understand the reaction to a cortisone injection can last around 24 - 48 hours.
Avoid strenuous exercise, ice and anti-inflammatory are the best things to help ease the reaction.
By the way, that's ice applied to the arm not in a Gin & Tonic!

  3. Ugh! I had *tennis elbow* for almost a year, during which time I couldn't lift so much as a butterfly without severe pain.

During a visit to my regular MD, I was telling him about it and he said "You need to loosen your grip". Oh. Duh!

So, after two excruciatingly painful shots into my elbow, the truth was out. I was gripping my clubs too tightly. As soon as I became aware of it, I was able to stop doing it. Well, most of the time. I tend to grip harder when playing with hubby. Can't imagine why, lol.

Okay, now here's a personal tip I got from hubby: His Dad told him that he should never hold his golf club tighter than he would hold his *johnson*. Being a woman, I'm not exactly sure what that means. I just know it means don't grip too hard. Hehehe...

  5. OUCH !! I feel for ya. Hardly anything more annoying than tennis/golf/blogger's elbow. (I've had it for years)

Did you get it hitting a shot fat ?

What has the doctor told you to do once the cortisone does its job ?

  6. When I had tennis elbow, a simple brace actually worn on the forearm did the trick, and pretty quickly.

  7. Feel better! I've never had it, but it sounds painful.

Rest. The blogging world will still be here anxiously awaiting your return.
