Abu Dhabi Championship - Martin Kaymer's Conquest

.
“That was the nicest round of golf I have ever played on the European Tour.”

That's how Martin Kaymer described his winning final round today at the Abu Dhabi Championship. Playing with Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter the baby faced German recaptured the falcon trophy with a 6-under 66 to finish at 21-under 267. Ian Poulter put up a valiant fight but ultimately missed the 15 foot birdie putt that would have forced a playoff.

Check back for a wrap-up report with fashion notes later today.

  1. I'm pretty sure that the fashion report will cover Mr. Villegas' T-Shirt... ;)

PS: Fashion left apart, the final round of the stellar match was really awesome! These three Euros are really promising for the Ryder!

  2. Shame what happend to Sergio yesterday, but he's off to a good start. Kaymer, Poulter, McIlroy ... Monty will have no trouble getting a great team together.

  3. I wish we could have these tournaments televised. The very good players and the interesting locations would be great to see.

  4. assgolf:

euro tour is televised on the golf channel in the mornings.

it's not "big time" tv coverage like in the states but it is a nice departure from all the hype and tigermania.

for the most part it is just golf - no sports shrinks or armies of media - just shot making and understated commentary - very, very nice change of pace.
