Dubai-based Designer's Multichromatic Golf Shoe Inspired by Snoop Dogg

When it comes to golf shoes, the custom made wingtip is something of a relic.

As street style shoes have flooded the fairways of North America and rapidly made their way around the world, many recreational golfers seem to be opting for casual, comfortable sneaker-like footwear.

The majority of tour players though still wear more traditional golf shoes... as do many of the well-heeled members of exclusive private clubs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.  This is precisely the market Dubai-based Dutchman, Stephen Alexander, will be targeting with the line he'll be releasing in early February at the 2013 Dubai Desert Classic.

Crafted in Italy by iconic shoemaker Raimondi, the bespoke footwear hits a classic note, with perforations and contrasting leathers, however one unique pair of Steven Alexander golf shoes... made especially for one unique celebrity golfer... is anything but classic.

A pair of shiny red, green and yellow patent leather shoes has been made for the American singer-songwriter Snoop Dogg. The rapper's name is engraved on the heel and it seems he's delighted with the styling. So much so that he's ready to order several additional pairs. And that sounds like enough to make even Ian Poulter envious.

  1. i'm not sure how those WINGED TIPS will play at WINGED FOOT since even a middle east prince was DENIED his entourage out on that course

anyway it's not that stylish shoes are gone from memory - just from mass merchandisers shelves

i myself insist on good solid golf shoes and my last purchase was the hardest way to spend money you could imagine - multiple phone calls to various vendors to arrange shipment somewhere so retail distributors could protect their wholesalers and on and on

nike air zoom LEATHER and SEWN was the last high quality shoe on the market which was ultimately discontinued and not to be confused with the PLASTIC and GLUED shoe today

i am incouraged the MAILLOT is also making a comeback according to an article in yesterdays NYPost just in time for our annual snowbird festival

    anyway be well

  2. I thought he was known as "Snoop Lion" and DJ Snoopadelic these days?

  3. I hadn't heard the story about the Middle Eastern prince Frank, but I have been to Winged Foot and the vibe certainly is, um... cloistered. ~ These days it's getting difficult to find good quality apparel. If one wants quality one's almost obliged go the bespoke route. It'll be interesting to see what the designers do with the maillot this season. Enjoy the snowbirds!

You're right Scottio, I forgot about Snoop Dogg's name change :-\ Apparently, the rechristening took place several months ago when he became Snoop Lion, then more recently DJ Snoopadelic. Unlike some other stars he seems quite cool about which one uses.

  4. It seems to me that Dubai is getting more and more like Vegas. I don't know why anyone would travel all that way for the same thing.

  5. patricia,

it involved then King Hassan II of Morocco and PAT COLLINS and when you are back at winged foot find dave zona and ask him to tell you the story

also ask about a previous winged foot member from canada of some note... his last name was MULLIGAN

even theDONALD would agree there is no other club quite like winged foot
