Pink and Yellow - Winning Colors As Worn by Paula Creamer & Sergio Garcia

MOBILE, Alabama -- Paula Creamer matched her career best Thursday with an eight-under 64 to take a two-stroke lead over Lorena Ochoa and two other players after the first round of the Mitchell Company LPGA Tournament of Champions at Mobile, Ala.

...while on the other side of the world...in a slightly different time zone...

GOTEMBA, Japan -- Sergio Garcia shot a 5-under-par 67 Friday to move into a three-way tie for the lead at the Taiheiyo Masters.

That was one great day for two of my favorite colors AND two of my favorite golfers. Yay!

  1. Hi Patricia - Since you're a Sergio fan, you might get a laugh off of THIS posting at The Golf Gazette - I sure did, but I almost drowned in my coffee when I read the Spanish part, specifically:

"You need somebody to trash-talk Sergio Garcia in Spanish. (“¿De dónde conseguiste esos pantalones amarillos? ¿De tu hermana?” “Buen putt, Alice. ¿Tu juego del marido golf?”) "

Now, my Spanish is pretty fundamental and rusty, since I only took it in Junior High, but I THINK the questions are:

" Where did you get those yellow pants? From your sister? Nice putt, Alice...Does your husband golf?"

The entire article is at http://www.thegolfgazette.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=4826&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0, and it's pretty insightful and humorous at the same time...a good read...

By the way, the common expression "Nice putt, Alice" is REALLY SUPPOSED to be "Nice putt, Alliss", which was supposedly made when PETER ALLISS, a famous golf professional of the 60's and '70's (who still does broadcasting for the European Tour, by the way), left a putt short and lost a match or championship or something, and the expression was made, and it's now been taken as a perjorative to diminish one's masculinity when leaving a putt short of the cup...

Thus endeth today's golf trivia session - class dismissed....

  2. That's funny, yeah I love Sergio, though he does sometimes look like a cross between a banana and a canary. Seem he had something of a meltdown in Japan after I posted this.
