Golf Makes Justin Timberlake America's Most Stylish

It had to be the argyle.

Justin Timberlake tops the lists of GQ magazine's "10 Most Stylish Men in America" and the fact that he spends lots of time on the links...and dresses for it...undoubtedly helped. In fact, for the GQ interview, featured in their March issue, Justin took the reporter to a golf course.

Mr. Timberlake's fairway fashion sense is not appreciated by everyone however.
reporting on the recent, rainy AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, the Daily Mail proclaimed that Justin Timberlake had shrugged off his sexy image for "grandfather chic", and discribed his outfit as a flat cap and a diamond-patterned jumper.

Decidedly, some folks are not feeling the argyle. To be honest one of JT's style tips was "save the argyle for the golf course". Which I don't agree with. Obviously.

  1. Save the argyle for the course? No way! Argyle sweaters are no longer something you pull from the mothballs. So many designers are offering more modern-takes on argyle. Argyle is a part of links history and designers are finding ways to incorporate it into some hip new garments.

Obviously I approve of Mr. Timberlake's fairway fashions. Won't he be relieved. ;o)

  2. I love it that he dresses to the nines for the course. In my opinion, men have gotten way too casual about the game, as far as dressing goes. I've seen men on the golf course wearing jeans (Heaven forbid!) While we ladies are still not allowed to wear a sleevelees, collarless top. We can wear a top that has a collar & no sleeves or a top with sleeves & no collar. But, they can wear jeans? At least JT doesn't wear jeans...

  3. Snooty, I think women could wear a shirt that consists of collars and sleeves only. That would definately straighten my putter! LOL..By the way loved your recipe for Tilapia.

  4. At our club down here in North Carolina, jeans are a no-no anytime. Women can, however, wear sleeveless tops, so long as they fit into the realm of "golf attire."

As for dressing up to play 18, try doing that in high heat and humidity of summer-time in this region. Most fashionable clothes would leave you waiting for an ambulance thanks to heat stroke.

Still, a nice golf shirt and fitting, pressed Bermuda shorts goes a long way.

  6. Justin brings Sexy Back to anything! I think he looks smokin hot in his argyle! I'd like to see him in that outfit next to Adam Scott in his Burbery!

  7. Argh! Sorry, but I don't share anyone's positive views re Argyles! They are just SO out dated. Sure they were fashionable in the 1960's and style goes round in cycles so perhaps the younger folk on here won't remember how Val Doonigan made them famous on his TV show....he was a big golf fan and wore them on every show! They soon went very quickly off everyone's radar. In Europe they are still considered to be crass, and people won't be seen dead in them. Give me an Italian designer or even Scandinavian now!

As for jeans on the course, and trainers and football shirts (yeah, I have seen that too!)& track suits - those wearing them should be shot on sight, and the clubs fined heavily for bringing the game into disrepute! There are some really fabulous designers out there, if one bothers to search for them. The ladies have a fab range of alternative clothes and then men struggle a little but hey, you can still find good ranges....JL (sponsors of Camilo Villegas) and Golfino to name but two.

    Have a great day!

  8. Thanks for the comments and link! Love the blog. Justin is magnetic, when we were watching him at the Shriner's my friend said, "Wow. Every single thing he does is sexy." Pretty much sums him up!

  9. Ok, I'm a big JT fan. Love that he has a killer game and is bringing a ton of attention to the sport. As square as it is I don't mind the argyle and has anyone see Russell Simmons apparel company Argyle Culture, very cool stuff proving old can be cool and cool can be old!
We sent Sweet Spot clubs to Justin and heard that he "flipped over them" but sadly we've never seen him use them. my guess is that some janitor or his trainer is playing with them on some muni somewhere... JT's loss as they fit his image for sure as the bad ass of the links... did I say that!
