“That guy is a golfer? He looks like a truck driver!”
According to sprightly golf scribe Stephanie Wei, that's how some US Open inebriates reacted to the earthy appearance of PGA player Ryan Moore last week.
Well you know what? He does look kind of like a truck driver... a really cute, friendly truck driver who happens to be an astoundingly excellent golfer in his spare time.
After a remarkable T10 finish at Bethpage, Mr. Moore has been having a terrific Travelers. He followed his opening 66 with a 5-under-par 65 in the second round today. He currently stands just behind the aforementioned Mr. Perry on the leader board.
Stephanie writes about Ryan's independent spirit and how it's led to his logo-less, casual style. She also ventured to predict a possible Ryan Moore win at the Travelers this weekend...and it definitely looks like the intrepid trucker is headed in that direction.

ReplyDeleteI saw him at The Shell Houston Open. Myself and the nearby spectators were debating as to weather or not he was wearing golf shoes. His shoes looked like skateboarder shoes (they were Puma though) and looked like any golf shoes I have ever seen. He looked very relaxed and was one of the few players I saw that looked like he was enjoying himself.

I think Ryan Moore should clean up his act. The grunge look is no longer hip, even in WA, and it doesn't belong on a golf course.

ReplyDeleteI love his look! I am now looking for some golf shoes for my husband just like his! I hate the old stuffy golf attire. I love his more hip approach. If the girls can do it then so should the guys!!! But it takes good golf to pull it off and he's not only got the look but he's got the swing as well!
