Category Leader Cristie Kerr Passes $10 Million Mark

When I say category, I actually mean multiple categories, because right now Ms. Kerr leads the LPGA in a number of them:
* Rolex Player of the Year (108 points)
* Scoring/Vare Trophy (70.00)
* LPGA Official Money List ($1,248,202)
* Rounds under par (72.6 percent)
* Top-10 finishes (10/16)
* Birdies (241)

...and if that's not impressive enough, with her T3 finish at the Evian Masters yesterday, she surpassed the $10 million mark in career earnings, reaching $10,187,118 - to be exact - in her 13-year/12 victory LPGA Tour career.

Behind Cristie's success is an amazing dedication and determination, and because she's equally engaged in her charity efforts, the result goes way beyond the world of golf. An impressive nineteen Cristie Kerr birdies at Evian meant a $950 donation to her foundation Birdies for Breast Cancer.

Now, it's on to Lancashire and Ricoh Women's British Open. With 48 of world's top 50 player in the line up it promises to be a highly competitive championship, which suits Cristie just fine.

  1. I'm hoping for a lot of weather at this year's Open. I honestly want to see how well some of the top players manage their games in a classic Open Championship -- which means wind, some rain and highly variable conditions.

  2. Yes... I agree a real British Open...but not as bad as our US Open at Bethpage, right? ;o)

  3. I like Cristie's chances over there. She's done in bad weather too so if it happens it won't be such an issue for her.

  4. I've said it before. Cristie Kerr is seriously under-rated. I don't think most LPGA watchers would guess that she leads in all of those categories. The Women's US Open must have been terribly frustrating but it looks like she was able to leave it behind. I'm betting on her in Britain.

  5. I don't think a single player on the LPGA underrates Cristie, but I agree the press does. If Natalie, Morgan & Paula could putt like Cristie Kerr, they'd've won a dozen times each.

  6. Oh no, nothing like Bethpage. That would be sadistic to wish on anyone. :-)

  7. I must say the event must go on.It's one of the hardest thing to see the environment is not so good.

  8. It's just so silly to me that all the talk is about Natalie Gulbis and Anna Rawson, 36 and 108 respectively on the moneylist and Cristie Kerr who is 3 and clearly the dominant player at this moment get so little press.

    Her winning the British Open would be great, and I'm rooting for her like crazy, but I'm not convinced any amount of victories could compete with the glow of "swimsuit celebrity" in today's world. And that to me is part of why the LPGA has the problems it does. Sad.

  9. Cristie Kerr and Lorena Ochoa are odds on co-favorites to claim the Women’s British Open. lets see if either can do better over there than Tiger did.

  10. What I like most about Cristie is her steely determination. The way she walks up that fairway with such conviction. I know some people would rather see smiles and giggles and waves but I'm alway so inspired by Cristie's single mindedness.

    Keep up the good work CK!

  12. Etiquette is a word that's often heard in relation to golf, more so than with any other sport. But it's not just about manners.
