ShopRite, Atlantic City & LPGA Golf, This Week on Jersey Shore

As you may have surmised this post has nothing to do with Snookie... or any other reality show stars. However, when you consider that $1.5 million is a stake and 144 of the best female golfers in the world will be battling for it... in an area that's become an international resort destination... The ShopRite LPGA Classic is something of a reality show; totally unscripted and potentially more exciting and dramatic than most that fit the category.

The Bay Course at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Course, originally laid out in 1914, has difficult bunkers, small greens and... a long history with the LPGA Tour.  It's located in Galloway, NJ just north of Atlantic City, the country's top coastal resort.

In addition to top talent on the course, the singular location is part of what makes this event great.  It offers something... actually, lots of things... for everyone.  Accommodations range from bustling Casino Resorts, to soothing seaside spas, to simple family friendly inns.  When you're not following your favorite LPGA players you've got the endless entertainment of the Atlantic City Beaches & Boardwalk, plus there are plenty of excellent public and resort golf courses on which to enjoy a round of your own, including the historic Atlantic City Country Club.

I'm hoping to get down to the Jersey Shore this weekend to bring you a firsthand glimpse.  In the meantime, get more info on the ShopRite LPGA Classic Website and on LPGA.com - you can also follow the event on Twitter and Facebook.  For extensive info on Atlantic City, DoAC is the site to hit, they're on the social networks too: @VisitAC and Facebook.com/AtlanticCityNJ

BTW, It took a lot of restraint but I've resisted the temptation to end this post with "Oh yeeeeah!"

  1. I played Atlantic City Country Club several years ago on a crisp day in early September. The course is beautiful and was in perfect condition after a uncharacteristically cool NJ summer. It's one of my favorite golf memories.

  2. Sounds like a great tournament. I remember AC from before it became AC, ie before gambling. We used to go for family vacations in the 60s. The old hotels were getting quite run down but the place had lots of charm. My Ohio family always spent the whole week in the ocean, rain or shine. LOL.
