Lexus Champions for Charity - A Superlative Experience In Every Way

Overwhelmed.
These days, more often than not, it's a word with negative connotations. One tends to think of endless office workloads, the eternal demands of domestic chores... or the snow that just won't stop falling.

However, there's another side to the word that's anything but negative: I'm talking about the side associated with awe and wonderment... and happily that's the overwhelmed I'm confronting right now at the 2013 Lexus Champions for Charity event

When the venue is Pebble Beach, the sponsor is Lexus and the activities are all about golf, charity and conviviality, the results are going to be one unforgettable experience after another ...and for that reason my posts here may well be somewhat spare these next few days, however I'll surely be sharing on the social networks, and upon my return to snowbound CT on Sunday evening I promise I'll fill in all the blanks. As a super-brief synopsis of what I've done so far though, how about this:

Wednesday evening: A welcome ceremony at the Beach Club where I met Annika Sorenstam who spoke to me about family golf, growing the game and... Christmas traditions in Sweden.  A glow ball tournament followed at the Inn at Spanish Bay.
Thursday: A sublime round of golf at The Links at Spanish Bay (the sublime part has nothing to do with how I actually played) followed by an unforgettable ride through the Del Monte Forest in the ultra-impressive Lexus LFA

Thursday evening: A festive dinner with Champions for Charity participants from all over the country - all of them competing for charity and each with a unique story to tell.

This morning I spent some time on the Spanish Bay putting green practicing one of many elements of my game that needs an extensive overhaul before tomorrow's round at Pebble Beach Golf Links. I'm now off to a cooking demonstration with chef Dean Fearing where I hear Natalie Gulbis will be whipping up a recipe or two.

So that's it for now I'll be posting again tomorrow soon. In the meantime Check out #LexusC4C for some live dispatches.
