Oh Yoko - A New Ishikawa on Course - Ryo's Little Sis

She's Yoko Ishikawa. Big brother is Ryo, he's part of the "Rickie, Ryo, Rory" triad that's come to symbolize the future hopes of the PGA Tour; the high-profile threesome often seen as the most promising of the promising young guns.

Young Yoko is making her Japan LPGA Tour debut at this week's T-Point Ladies golf tournament...and has made it clear that she hopes to follow in her brother's phenomenal footsteps. At fifteen Ryo became the youngest player to win on the Japanese men's tour, so Yoko certainly has lofty aspirations. Fortunately for the thirteen-year-old it looks like golf greatness is in the Isikawa DNA.

  1. We have Ai and Momoku- and now, Yoko. I would like to see a match between Yoko and our own Alexis Thompson. Alexis is pretty advanced though, so that match might have to wait a couple years.

  2. I still cannot figure out why Japan, with 2.5 times more people than Korea, has relatively few champion golfers on the LPGA tour.

I looked at the field at one LPGA tournament and there were 45 Korean entrants and only 3 Japanese.

  3. I wonder if Yoko is also inspired by her brother's multicolored outfits. I hope so. ;)
