Golf in the Gulf - Eye on Dubai

Tiger's there already ooo. He flew out last night after his awesome win at the Buick Invitational. By now he's probably checking out progress on his fabulous Arabian Gulf golf complex, Tiger Woods Dubai, set to open in the 4th quarter of 2009.

I'm sure he's also eagerly anticipating the start of Dubai Desert Classic week which kicks off tomorrow. Tiger will meet up with a slew of the worlds top players at the lush Emirates Golf Club, including defending champion and Dubai "local", Henrik Stenson, Colin Montgomerie, who also has ties to Dubai and would be rival Ernie Els.

Oh and the 12 strong field will also include the fabulously fashionable Ian Poulter. No doubt about it, the Arabian desert is going to sizzle this week.

  1. GG,
The upside to Tiger playing in the Dubai.... The Golf Channel has live coverage beginning at 8:30AM during the weekend. Nothing like getting your fix before noon.

Downside; I really would like to see Tiger playing the FBR again. Great venue, atmosphere there.

  2. I'd like to see Ian Poulter play FBR in his pink outfits and Pink and Black golf bag. That would give those crazy, drunk'in John Daly lovers something to hoot about.

  3. i wish tiger would not have taken all that arab money. too much or that money has gone to attacking our way of life. even the founding fathers of our country, esp. jefferson and franklin, warned against having dealings with the arabs -

they couldn't be trusted in 1798 and tehy can't be trusted in 2008.

  9. Tiger is an excellent ambassador for democracy and international openness and all Americans can and should be proud of him. Sure he's getting paid a lot for what he's doing there, he'd get paid a lot anywhere he went because he's worth it.

Instead of categorically disregarding other cultures as dirty, untrustworthy and lame some of you guys should just look in the mirror to see what that looks like.

Remember 9/11 and remember that the Arabs attack us on a regular basis every 5 to 10 years - causing as much destruction as possible - first they suck us in with $$, lull us into complacency, and then they strike with their terror plots. Don't think for one minute that the monied arabs aren't in on this game which is as old as the dirt. Arab culture is the most brutal and backward thinking culture on the planet. Just look at how their women are dressed and treated in even the most progressive cities like Dubai.

How many friends and family did you lose in the 9/11 strike? I don't have enough fingers on both hands to count my losses.
