My intentions were good. This morning I had several provocative and engaging golf stories ready for a final edit, I also had plans to work on the long awaited Golf Girl's Diary site upgrade.
Then one of Nick's playing playing partners canceled. And I was
I felt guilty for not working...for about 18 seconds... but ultimately reasoned that, even after a three day weekend, golf must take priority over work. So I'm going to work later... tonight...when I get home. Talk to you then.
You are my idol! Where do I get a job like this?
ReplyDeleteLOL You go Golf Girl, more power to ya. It is part of your "job" description anyway, right? I mean how can one write and maintain a website about golf without actually playing?! ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh and you are MY idol too.
I live by the rule, 'you play today so you can write about it another day'! In order to be passionate about something you have to be involved in it. You can write about mountains and even look at pictures that feature mountains, but until you see mountains with your own eyes, you will never truly understand. The same is true with golf. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself. If I wasn't injured, I'd be doing the same thing you are. Ha ha.
ReplyDeleteHave any thoughts on Conde Nast shutting down "Golf For Women" ?
ReplyDeleteHere is the quote from the story:
Conde Nast is shutting down "Golf For Women," the third magazine it has shuttered (including Jane and House & Garden) in the past year.
Reed replaces longtime editor Amy Gross, who retired from O, The Oprah Magazine in April. Soon after Reed's departure was announced, Conde Nast execs gathered "Golf For Women" staff to tell them of the fate of the magazine. Conde Nast bought the magazine from Meredith in 2001. The current July/August issue will be its last.
Yes I definitely did the right thing today :o)
ReplyDelete@ Josh Morgan: Abt the demise of GFW, it's sad because the magazine had so many loyal readers but the business model of a traditional magazine in this economy is extraordinarily tough particularly in this economy. I think it's going to be up to on-line media to fill the void in this case.
hey - SOMEone's gotta do it - and the job of any good writer is to keep up with their research. :-)
ReplyDeleteGood to see you have your priorities right Patricia.
ReplyDeleteGolf has always to take precedence!
How about golf v. sex?
ReplyDeleteI also have that same problem, of playing golf vs blogging about it. But in my case, it has to do with reviewing the golf products that are sent to me. I'm usually testing an item, while at the same time playing the game I love. There are times when I just go out and play and not focus on testing a product at hand.
ReplyDeleteI try and keep it balanced as much as possible.

We need more photos of you playing golf.
ReplyDeleteI'd much rather play golf than write about it. I'd much rather play golf that watch it on TV.
ReplyDelete"golf must take priority over work"
ReplyDeleteMust take this advice more often.
