Mojo 6 - An Exciting New Golf Entertainment Idea

.

OK, here's the idea: ~ Take an exciting new fast-paced golf format add a fully-integrated community-oriented charitable component, mix in some of the world's top LPGA Players who'll be competing for a $1 million purse.

I wish I had thought of it, but I'm glad somebody did.

Mojo Marketing & Media, the only entertainment company whoese mission is to encourage social responsibility, has created The Mojo 6, a totally new golf entertainment experience.

The first annual Mojo 6 tournament will be held April 13-16, 2010 at the beautiful and exclusive Cinnamon Hill Golf Course at Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It's LPGA sanctioned and will feature 16 of the world's top LPGA golfers including Suzann Petersen, Christina Kim and Paula Creamer.

The unique format is called Raceway Golf and very basically, here's how it works: The first day, the 16 golfers each play three, six-hole matches. The players earn points in each match and only the top eight move to day two. On day two, the eight compete in a single-elimination tournament bracket, with three match victories needed to win. There's a lot more to it than that, including changing hole-setups and strategic selection of opponents. Raceway Golf has been described as a sprint to traditional golf's marathon.

Will the golf curmudgeons purists grumble? Of course they will, and that's OK, that's what curmudgeons purists do. The rest of us golf fans will undoubtedly enjoy it and because it'll air on CBS, it'll surely attract new fans too.

We'll be bringing you additional updates as they become available, as well as exclusive stories leading up to the event. In the meantime, check out the Mojo 6 website.

I still wish it had been my idea.

  1. Awesome idea. Also, I'm curious about something. I'm working on a personal stat-tracking application for golfers (http://golftracapp.com) and want to support both men and women (obviously). As a lady golfer, what things are you interested in knowing about your game? I currently have the ability to enter women's handicaps and a place to choose red tee's (for handicap computations), but beyond that, I don't know if I'm missing something. Thanks for any input/feedback!

  2. This sounds like it might be the perfect way to reach a larger audience and keep them watching.

  3. That's it. Get the fun part of golf out there. Let people see that it can be fun snd entertaining.

Golf has a real image problem. More than any other sport it's perceived as boring. If this catches on it could really help with that. :)

Voting has started for the 16th player. My vote is for Vicky Hurst. She's the long hitter and a great match play player.

Who are you all voting for?
