Fedex Cup 2008 -The Wide Realm of Possibility

As the second playing of the Fedex Cup takes off with the Barclays this week, last year's cacophony of complaints seems a distant memory.

A subtle change to the points system (and the absence of a certain red shirted wonder) have left the race open to myriad possibilities. And myriad possibilities are definitely a good thing. Consider the contenders: Kenny Perry, Phil Mickelson and Padraig Harrington come to mind immediately, but then you've got GGD faves like Vijay Singh, Geoff Ogilvy, Anthony Kim and Ryuji Imada right in there too. And the realm of possibility goes much further than that. How about fan favorites Rocco Mediate and Paul Goydos?
It's possible.

So as the playoffs begin, with exciting storylines and infinite possibilities, so does the second annual Fedex Cup Cocktail Contest. Rules are the same as last year. You just need to create a drink based on a contending player. Check out some of last year's entries here.

The creative mixologist who comes up with the winning brew will win a copy of the awesome Mulligan's Golf and Cocktail Club, as well as a bundle of Golf Girl merchandise. Here's to the 2008 Fedex Cup.

I could handle a Poulter Pink Passion round about now

  1. ok - looked up the Pink Poulter - but what is a "cl" ?

being a Padraig Harrington fan, we'll go simple - the Padraig Pour - (1) pint glass filled to double pour perfection with Guinness :-)

  2. instead of the usual 4 leaf clover in the head, you can attempt a golf ball! :) Or at least a pin flag : )

  3. I still think the Fedex Cup is kind of a yawn. This cocktail contest gives it a bit more zing, though. :0

  6. I'm pulling for Anthony Kim, and I know he used to be quite the Vodka aficionado I'm working creating an Anthony Kim Kamikaze. The way I have it now it's almost perfect but I'll probably have to try a few more before I get it just right. Then hope I remember the recipe.

  10. Paddy Birdie Blitz (Padraig Harrington)
Tee Off with 3 parts Black Irish Whiskey.
Hit it close with 1 part Kahlua coffee liqueur.
Sink a cherry for stroke 3 then pour over ice cubes

Stir, let it sit for exactly 1 minute (no longer, don't want to get penalized for slow play)!

    Welcome to the 19th hole!

  11. maybe now that the tour has finally dumped westchester cc and it's out of touch membership, the fed ex cup will become something:

    http://www.golf.com/golf/tours_news/article/0,28136,1833670,00.html?cid=feed-tours_news-20080819-1833670

read the above article, it is quite amazing: the members demanded the following of the tour and the tour- to its credit- said no:

-the locker room and training facilities are shared with members and tour players during the week of play -

yeah.... tours players just can't wait to rehash their rounds with a bounch of rich old farts from westchester who probably can't break 90 on any course

-the tennis courts which are right next to the 1st tee remain open to members during the tourney

just imagine some wrinkled up old broad yelling "set and match" during vijay's back swing "oh my!, why is there a black man at my club?, someone call security"

    - the south course remains open for members during the week of play- this way all these asshole members can continue slicing and hooking shots at the tour players during the tourney - that makes sense!

THIS IS A BIG TOURNAMENT!! these members need to wake up. last year the MEMBERS DEMANDS were permitted by the tour and a westchester member threw arron baddeley out of the training room (no christians allowed who aren't WASP'S). no wonder tiger passed last year and attendance was so low. who the fuck would want to come to this snobatorium to watch, except maybe courtgolf, blob-io, mr. biz golf who probably think the westchester members are correct and entitled to this ridiculous behavior - afterall it is their club -- right guys?

    go figure

  12. Anon 4:10 - got a little news for you. Westchester isn't owned by the PGA Tour. It is a PRIVATE club that the PGA Tour contracted out for the tournament.

Here's a little more news for you - several other privte clubs have told the USGA that they do NOT want the US Open held there anymore because of the damage done to the course and surroundings - plus the limitations put on the members access to the golf course a full month before, the week after, then however long it takes to put the course back in playing condition.

Westchester has NOTHING to do with the success or failure of the Fed Ex Cup. If there were only four golf courses on the continent, there might be an issue - but there are hundreds of courses around the country that are willing to host an event - Westchester just had other ideas.

    It's their club - they're allowed.

  13. oh - and Tiger Woods skipped Westchester last year because the course doesn't fit his eye. He said so - try to get your facts straight.

it's amazing how easy it is for you to want to tell people how to use THEIR property - but I'm guessing that if you opened your doors to someone for a party, and they destroyed your house, or the neighbors told you that if you did that again they would call the police - you would think twice about having that party again.

I have nothing to lose or gain by having the PGA play at Westchester. My personal opinion is that they should spread the events out across the country - not just in easy access media centers on the east coast.

  14. you see i predicted courtgolf would weigh in on this issue in favor of the snobs.

    so predictable.. chuckle, chuckle

  15. Anon - let me explain to you how that works - when you're right...you don't have to backtrack or change your mind on a subject.

You're free to live in that pitiful world of class envy all you want - but it doesn't make you right. And no - I don't belong to a country club.

  16. courtdickhead

you certainly are an insecure little girly man. keep proclaiming you're right, maybe someone else will agree as well.

courtney? .. your parents gave you a girls name? how unfortunate, do they dislike you still?

  17. ps court

if you don't belong to a country club why are you such an apologist for the dark side?

    ReplyDelete
  18. lol - Anon - you're a riot. "the dark side"

How do you know when you've won an arguement ? When the other guy can't do anything more than name calling.
