Thursday

The Thursday Post from Golf Girl World

by Jordan Farr, aka Golf Girl Junior

Hey there GGD Readers!

Once again it’s time for my Thursday post! But I don’t suppose I really need to tell you that as I assume it’s already on your Calenders... right? And, speaking of Calenders, October is a special month for Golf Girl Media. Not only is it my birthday month (a national holiday is in the works), but more importantly, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

As you may know we’re huge fans of Cristie Kerr and her Birdies For Breast Cancer Charity. Quite a few organizations are pitching in throughout October, and donating to Cristie's cause, including the awesome online golf boutique Golf4Her. When you purchase golf clothing and accessories at Golf4Her.com ‘s “Pretty in Pink Webtique,” 10% of the proceeds will go to to Birdies for Breast Cancer.

In the next few days, I will be doing a post about how other golfers and golf businesses are helping raise awareness and funds during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and beyond.

In other Golf Girl Media news, we are now (thanks to me) entering the exciting world of contests and sweepstakes. YAY!!! I know... I’m just as excited as you are! Now you may be asking: “what kind of contest, Jordan? Tell me more!” Well, I can honestly say I don’t really know at this point. And this is where you come in. Can you help me with ideas? What are some golf products you would like to win?

Now as those of you who were listening to “Only Two Things” last night already heard, here’s the weekly question for my pop-culture-golf poll:

Justin Timberlake recently created the awesome Mirimichi golf course near Memphis, TN ...and the golf girl herself played Celine Dion’s golf course just outside of Montreal. So... what celeb would you like to see make their own course? (BTW my personal pick is Catherine Zeta Jones - she’s stylish, talented and passionate about golf).

Just leave your responses in comments or shoot me an email at: jordan@golfgirlmedia.com
And remember to check out our Facebook fan page for further updates.

  1. Golf balls are a big hit in my experience.
As for the celebrity golf course, I think something Elvis would be a big hit.
There could be the "Aint nothing but a hound dog" leg left hole...
    You get the idea.
And that would bring a huge number of non-traditional golfers into the arena
Looking forward to our next conversation on "The Golf CLub" show (Shameless Plug Alert)

  2. Great post GGJr! I love Danielle's Elvis idea, and a brand extension could include blue suede golf shoes.

    jordan,

happy birthday - you go girl !

being half-german i usually devote october to beer but in reading of your new idea of "contests" let me reach out to you and add my contribution

if you are interested i have a whole lot of various golf stuff i could donate as "prizes", however, i must tell you up front shipping may become an issue

of course, you will also be subjected to listening to the story of how i came about such items (at least to the extent i can tell you the story, as the statute of limitations differs from state to state i would have to know what laws of evidence and subpoena apply in your area)

anyway let me know - okay ?

as for famous celebrity courses i guess willie nelson's course would have to be the one for a duffer like myself -

"the best part of owning my own golf course is, if i wanna have a hole that's a par 22, i can, even if it's only 150 yards" willie nelson on TV interview

  7. Since I'm guessing I'll be the last comment on this blog, I don't mind being a bookend with my dear friend Danielle Tucker out in the Pacific. Nice job on this "Junior." When is your birthday exactly. Mine is this month also. Somehow I'm guessing yours will be more a week long festival type thing. :)

  8. Timberlake's Mirimichi masterpiece, just 20 minutes north of downtown Memphis, is a gem. Eco friendly, absolutely beautiful with many specail twists and surprises....AND, reasonably priced!! I think they are looking to add a PGA Seniors event.

    GGjr,

how about a framed layout print of Hudson National, signed in 1996 by Tom Fazio in a dedication to another Tom (possibly Marzolf past president of GCAA and current senior fazio designer), which apparently went missing from Fazio's design headquarters, and showed up recently at a local auction, where i bought it

i contacted marzolf, senior designer at fazio in NC and inquired if he was missing it - the wind-up was, yes, that a framed layout as described was indeed missing, but there were actually three different "toms" mr fazio could have been rewarding it to, himself included,

i offered to send it to him framed as is, or, take the print out of the frame and roll it into a mailing tube (the framed item would have cost about $60 and the tube option about $22 (without frame)) and that is when he mentioned since i bought it at auction, it was mine, and that's where we left it (i mentioned shipping would be an issue - unless the "winner" has to incur the shipping ?)

that is the most recent but i do have others

    anyway let me know
