Awesome Alvaro

Is he adorable, or what?
I just love the way the vest offsets the lime green striped shirt too. And you know... that's a really hard look to pull off... the short sleeved shirt under the knit vest...right? But Alvaro Quiros makes things work. Like he did at Dunhill over the weekend, with an awesome putt for eagle from 65 feet on the 18th... which literally shaved the hole... leaving him with an elegant little tap-in for birdie. This metrosexual Spaniard from Cadiz certainly seems to have it going on...in more ways than one. The only thing I don't like is his penchant for visors. Visors should be against the law, they're just wrong. However everything else about Alvaro is fine and I hope we see more of him, literally and figuratively.

UPDATE: Incriminating evidence of my own visor-wearing past...and the fact that I'm easily distracted while putting.

  1. I just have to disagree about visors. Some people can't pull 'em off, it's true, but they're not wrong for everyone. I'm surprised you haven't incorporated them into your own fashion options. You can do more things with your hair, even.

Personally, I wear hats most of the time but if it's going to be especially hot and/or I have someplace to be right after the round and no time to do anything about hat hair, I'll go with a visor.

  4. I have a confession to make...actually I have two.

    1) I've been known to wear visors myself.

    2) My remarks about visors being "wrong" actually only really refered to visors on males, and were therefore sexist in nature. Oooops.

The thing is, on guys I just think visors look ultra-dated and kind of dorky (Fred Couples, 80s "visor king" doesn't even wear them any more).

But who knows, maybe they're in for a come back. If enough guys like Alvaro start wearing them, it's almost guarenteed. In the meantime, I agree many of us gals can pull it off and it's way practical to avoid the hat hair dilema. I might even do a post on visors one of these days.

  5. I wear visors all the time, I guess its time to rethink. I think baseball hats just seem to belong, well, to another sport. . . I guess I could go with the Katayama Cowboy hat look (hmmm?). . .

    ;-)!

  7. Patricia, you definitely look good in a visor. I don't think anyone would disagree on that. Actually though I wasn't really looking at the visor.

  9. With some exceptions, vest is to be avoided at all cost by male golfers...they are a symbol of pompous jerks.

  11. Hey, where's the "Hanni-grip" in that picture???

See, that's part of its appeal - the grip is so attractive that you keep your HEAD DOWN through the stroke!!!

    =)

  12. Oh, and, uh, you might want to relax your KNEES a little bit...your stance looks TENSE in that pic...

Maybe some more eggnog SHOOTERS are in order to get you, um...limbered up....

  13. Patricia, I'd have to say the shot that really won it for Alvaro was when he hit the green..I like his attitude though.

  15. I know, I have trouble focusing sometimes. Oh well.

That pic was take in early summer before I got my Hanni-grip. My putting's much improved since I got it. ;o)
