Nikki Garrett - Multiple Albatross Golf Girl

Have you ever hit an albatross?

Neither have I. The albatross is a rare bird, and a rare feat in golf. That's what makes Nikki Garrett's albatross... on Oatlands Golf Club's par-five fourth, at the NSW Women's Open yesterday... so impressive.

And you know what's even more impressive? It was her third such bird. Ms. Garrett bagged her first Albatross when she was only 14, then another when she was 20, both at her home course Tuggerah Lakes on Australia's Central Coast. Friday's feat was accomplished with driver and a four iron, and the resulting seven-under-par 65 round earned her a course record...briefly. Ubertalented Korean-born Australian, Sarah Oh, caught up to share yesterday's lead, and today sailed to the top of the board where she currently resides at 10 under...while Nikki's 1-over 73 has her trailing at six-under.

We'll see what tomorrow brings to scorching New South Wales. In any case I got a kick out of the gorgeous Ms. Garrett's rather nonchalant reaction to her amazing Albatross.

"I saw it land on the green but didn't see it go in. I saw a guy clap and I thought, 'Cool'."

Golf Girl of the Week - Nikki Garrett

I haven't featured a Golf Girl of the Week in a while...not for lack of Golf Girls... au contraire, there are SO many, but there's been lots going on, and I can only manage one post a day due to my income generating full time job.

But, I couldn't resist Nicole Maree Garrett for this week's Golf Girl... and the post practically wrote itself. You see, over the weekend this smoking hot Aussie rocketed to the top of the Ladies European Tour money list by winning the Tenerife Ladies Open. 2006 Rookie of the year on the Ladies European Tour, Nikki Garrett obviously has talent and skill to match her way above par physical attributes. Those attributes are on display in THAT calendar...the one that got so much buzz earlier this year.

Nikki also has numerous fans among golf bloggers. My friends at Golf Babes have featured Nikki on a number of occasions and whether she's glamed up for a calendar shoot or in one of her cute golf outfits or just chilling in jeans she always looks great.

I just want to know where she got that lavender sweater.

The Blonde & The Brunette - This Weekend's Winning Golf Girls

These two golf girls are emerging as legitimate forces-to-be-reckoned-with on the LPGA and Ladies European Tours.

The Blonde: Norwegian, Suzanne Pettersen - She almost took the Kraft Nabisco a couple of weeks ago, but finished second after an inopportune late round meltdown. No such break down occurred yesterday at the Michelob Ultra Open though, and Suzanne Pettersen won a 3-hole playoff over Jee Young Lee to claim her first career LPGA Tour victory.

The Brunette: Australian, Nikki Garrett - Yes that Nikki Garrett, she of the lavender sweater and recent GGW. The beauty who clinched the Tenerife Open just over a week ago, yesterday captured the Ladies Spanish Open with a closing 70 to finish at 13-under. Nikki is definitely on a hot streak. (and she's definitely hot, obvs.)

I'm pretty sure these two appealing young golf girls will probably be making waves for the remainder of the season and beyond. Now we just need a winning redhead.

Tenerife Open de España - The Sunshine & The Stars at Golf Las Americas

{UPDATE BELOW} The warmth of the Iberian sun, the heady scent of hibiscus and the gracious conviviality of Canarian hosts,  those are are some of the things that make the Tenerife Open de España one of the most anticipated events on the LET schedule.

The LET ladies clearly look forward to playing in Tenerife, and this year the island's warmth was particularly welcome, as this Canary Island stop comes on the heels of  a cold and blustery British Open.   The climatic contrast was noted in myriad tweets, as players arrived at Golf Las Americas a couple of days ago:

Golfer Nikki Garrett Plays a Sexy Honey Bee

This Killer Bee got lots of buzz earlier this week at the lighthearted Jack Newton Celebrity Classic, wearing gossamer wings and a striped tank top over a fluffy little mini yellow skirt.

Nikki's swing does not appear to have been affected much by her wing.

The Jack Newton Classic is a 36 hole pro-am style tournament that celebrated it's 30th year this year at Cypress Lakes Resort in Australia's Hunter Valley. Celebrities and golfers compete on the course and raise money for charity. By all accounts it's an awesome, spirited event that some of the pros see as their “Aussie Christmas Party” on tour.

This year's event was won by Simon Furneaux in a playoff with Ewan Porter (he of the recent Aussie Golfer Facebook Feud).

And if you think Nikki's Bumblebee was the most revealing costume you're mistaken. Fellow golfer Katy Jarochowicz was swinging in ... a towel.

Michelle Wie - The Wheels Fell Off

"She's having a disastrous Saturday"... I just saw the comment from one of my readers and yes, when I checked the Evian Masters blog I had to agree: Troisième tour catastrophique pour Michelle Wie ... that needs no translation. Neither, I imagine, does: Son score de la journée est de +12. Oh well. That can happen in golf. Seems it's been a difficult day for many of the girls in Evian. Of those who've finished I see Nikki Garrett at +11, Brittany Lincicome at +10, Suzann Pettersen at + 9. Dure journée, as they say in France. Check out the site (in English or French) for news and updates.

Sexy Austrailian Golf Girls Cause Controversy with Calendar

When it comes to beautiful girl golfers, know one knows better than the folks at Golf Babes. I've come to count on this highly entertaining blog for a daily fix of illustrated stories and snippets on some of worlds hottest, cutest, most interesting female golfers. So it's no surprise to me that they would be the ones to break this story about some ultra sexy Australian golfers who've met up with bit of so-called righteous indignation in their attempts to produce a calendar to support their National Breast Cancer Foundation. It seems the project screeched to a halt half way through printing when the previously approved photos were suddenly deemed "too confronting" to be associated with the foundation's logo. (too confronting? ...must be an Australian expression). The good news is the calendar will still come out, albeit a bit later than anticipated. In addition, by funneling proceeds though a different foundation it will still benefit breast cancer research and awareness.

Below are a few of the girls participating. If they look this good on the golf course, I think the calendar will sell very well. After all, "confronting" never hurt anyone, did it?

UPDATE: Here's info on how to order the calendar. Thanks GolfBabes.
